"Reading"

    This year, I have grown so much as a reader. At the beginning of this year, my reading responses and annotations showed little to no interpretation of the text. This is probably because I hadn't really learned how to at the beginning of the year. To improve my reading skills, I have learned many things about writing that have really helped. By learning the traits of good writing, while reading, I can use this knowledge to read between the lines and find the meaning behind the text. I have also learned how to identify literary devices in a story which also helps me to decipher the true message the author is trying to convey. All of these things that I have learned, have allowed me to grow tremendously as a reader.
   During this year, I have read a couple of books including: We Were Liars, The Selection, The Martian, The Elite, and the books that we read in class like Lord of the Flies and Purple Hibiscus.
