writing weaknesses
Even though my writing has grown and improved in so may areas, I still need some work on certain areas of my writing. Some things I still need work on are details and ideas, voice, and sentence fluency. I feel these are some of the most important traits of good writing, but they are also the areas I need to work the most on. However, I do think I have significantly improved in these areas. These areas take me the most time to correct in my papers and essays and are the hardest for me to spot in my writing.
I feel that my details and ideas are usually weak because I think of some concrete details for a particular concept, but I cannot find a way to portray what I want the reader to get out of it, correctly. My unclear details and ideas make it harder for me to depict my thoughts in my writing entirely. Related to this, I find that my voice in my written works is inadequate. It is hard for me to describe events and make the reader feel as if they were in that situation. For example, in my personal narrative, I had trouble finding words that would make my reader feel as if they were experiencing the event I was attempting to portray in my writing. The last area I feel my writing needs improvements on is sentence fluency. I feel that in my papers, the rhythm of my sentences don't flow as nicely as I want them too. This causes for, sometimes, awkward patterns that cause the reader to slow or distract the reader from the content in the paper. In all, I feel that I have grown in all the areas of writing, but I still need to focus on improving my details and ideas, voice, and sentence fluency in my written works.
